A few PvP ideas
I was playing in tombs last night when I came up with an idea for PvP that Anet could use. I've also had a few others I've been kicking around so I thought I'd put them in one thread.
1. Grand Melee. Everyone knows that a 1v1 arena is something everyone is clamoring for. Well the grand melee takes it up a notch. Dump say 24-48 solo players into a circular arena where there is no place hide... maybe everyone is together and has a non-removable form of pacificism on them until the start of the match. When the clock starts it's every man for himself. The winner is either the last man standing or has the most kills before time runs up, where the latter you get rezzed to keep fighting. I'd love to see what'd happen when a congested battlefield gets cluttered with maelstroms and firestorms.
2. Group or Guild Grand Melee. Like thre grand melee or the tombs, but as of now, tombs is kind of designed so that 2 opposing teams will face off and they'll weed each other out. Instead, make every time fight every other team at the same time.
3. Class arena/class tombs. Similar to an arena or tombs, but there's one chevet: everyone on your team has to be of the same primary class. This can be further broken down into where your team will either be fighting another team of the same class, or your team will be fighting a team of a different class. I got this idea when I was invited into 2 tombs groups... one was all warriors one had a single ranger.
4. Solo tombs. Well, everyone wants a one on one arena, so why not a solo tombs where the best or luckiest PvPer will advance to the next round?
5. Arenas/tombs with monsters. Take some monsters, like ice imps or those imps from the ring of fire missions or those sand wurms from the desert. Put them in an arena/tombs match and have them go after groups randomly. Or if your team's flag is in the arena's single obelisk, the monsters will attack every team but yours.

All of those are cool except i do not like Monster fights. Too boring to look at 1000 dead monsters.

Why does everyone think they are hardcore PvPers cuz they call HA "Tombs"
Not "everyone" is "clamoring" for 1v1 arenas, I've seen the idea on here many times, and it would just not work at all, and no one would do 1v1 arenas because you just need a Shadow Prison sin that can do 750+ damage and you will /win about 90% of your games.
Class Arenas just wouldn't work. Necros would be all Blood Spike, no purpose of running anything else. It would be just 8 55 monks vs. 8 55 monks with no victor. 8 Rits will just bring about a new rit spike. It just doesn't work on so many levels.
Seeing 1000~ Monsters on screen would just lag so many people out. And, if you had less monsters, no one would ever die, if they were a decent team anyway. The bodyblocking would be so bad it would be near impossible to get a flag through.
Aren't there multiple maps with more than 2 teams facing off? Hall of Heroes being the most popular? All the ones with the "Hold The Altar" format are 1v1v1. Any more than that and it's just too hectic, and little skill is involved, it just becomes random fragfest, with so many fire eles and AoE, monks will get pressured out in under a minute, and all teams will die so fast it won't even be funny. The one team that remains will probably have 2 people alive at about 80 hp. There would be no skill involved.
basically, /notsigned

You've got Necromancer skillz!
A few points.
1. This thread is 3 years old. So it probably needs some updating.
2. Tombs is the old name for the HoH before Anet moved it.
3. I never said 1000 monsters.
4. Assuming the monk arenas were all 55ers, how long do you think it'd take some enterprising individual to bring some good enchantment stripping, degen skills, or enough e-denial to get the job done? Plus there are a few skills that ignore PS.
5. I seem to remember one map with up to 6 teams, but that one hasn't been around in ages. Which is a shame, that was a cool map.
